Privacy Policy

Plain version: we don’t sell your data, we don’t track you across the web, and we don’t bury anything in fine print. Here’s what The Practical Philo actually collects, why, and how to ask us to delete it.

Who’s responsible

The Practical Philo is run by Agrepto AB. For anything in this policy, questions, requests to see your data, or requests to delete it, write to contact@thepracticalphilo.com.

What we collect and why

Contact form

When you write in via the contact page, we collect your name (optional), email address, and your message. We use this only to read your message and reply to you.

  • Lawful basis: legitimate interest in responding to people who write in (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Retention: kept only as long as it’s useful for the correspondence and any follow-up, then deleted.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to see basic, aggregated stats how many people visit, which articles get read, where they come from. GA4 sets the cookies _ga and _ga_WN3PG9Y9ZW and stores its data on Google’s servers.

  • Lawful basis: legitimate interest in understanding which writing is working (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
  • Retention: GA4 deletes event-level data after the configured retention period (up to 14 months).
  • International transfer: GA4 sends data to Google in the US under Google’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

Server logs

Our host (Oderland, in Sweden) keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser, page requested) for security and troubleshooting. These are deleted on Oderland’s normal schedule.

We don’t run a newsletter, we don’t sell anything from the site, and we don’t share your data with anyone for marketing.

Cookies

These are the cookies set when you visit:

  • _ga, _ga_WN3PG9Y9ZW Google Analytics (analytics).
  • wp-settings, wp-settings-time WordPress, set only when you log into the admin (so, not for regular readers).

If you play an embedded YouTube video on the site, YouTube sets its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy. You can clear or block any of these cookies in your browser without breaking the site.

Who else handles your data

These are the only third parties involved in running the site:

  • Oderland Webbhotell AB (Sweden) hosts the site and the contact@ mailbox.
  • Google LLC (USA) runs Google Analytics 4 and serves any embedded YouTube videos.

Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

  • Know what we hold about you (access).
  • Correct anything wrong (rectification).
  • Have your data deleted (erasure).
  • Restrict or object to how we use it.
  • Get your data in a portable format (portability).
  • Complain to Sweden’s data-protection authority, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY).

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
